Gerald E. Civis CIVIS, MR. GERALD E. Whitehall Mr. Civis, age 78, died January 7, 2006. Born December 22, 1927, in Chicago, to Gerald and Eleanor (Lemke) Civis, he had lived in the White Lake area since 1946. On December 10, 1949, in South Bend, IN, he married the former EthelAnne Estlund and had worked for many years in the telecommunications industry, retiring from Verizon Communications. Mr. Civis was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church, a Life member of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69, a curator, Board member and generous donor of and to the Montague Museum, and a member of the White Lake Men's Garden Club and Muskgon County Rock & Mineral Society. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was preceded in death by 2 brothers. FAMILY His wife, EthelAnne; 2 daughters, Elaine (Scott) Stevens of Grand Haven and May Ellen Larson of Grant; 3 sons, Gregg (Robin) Civis, Jeffery (Irene) Civis and David Civis all of Whitehall; 1 granddaughter; 9 grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; a foster daughter, Flo King of Montague; a brother, Kenneth (Mary) Civis of Wyoming; a sister-in-law, Minnie Estlund; a brother-in-law, James Estlund. SERVICE Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at 2:00 PM, from Lebanon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Douglas M. Ogden officiating. Interment will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery.
