George O. Rogers ROGERS, MR. GEORGE O. Fruitport Mr. George Oliver Rogers, age 77, passed away at a local nursing home February 8, 2006, following a long illness. He was born August 3, 1928 in Muskegon to George and Lorretta (Schutter) Rogers. He married the former Mary Jane Lawrence in Muskegon on September 30, 1950. Mr. Rogers served in the U.S. Army Infantry during W.W.II with the occupational troops in Italy. He was a member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 3195. Mr. Rogers was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former scout master in Fruitport. He was a tool & die maker at Miller Engineering until his retirement in 1994. SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary Jane; 4 sons, George O. Rogers, III and Philip M. (Roxanne) Rogers both of Fruitport, Donald E. (Sally) Rogers of Grand Haven and Robert J. Rogers of Grand Rapids; 1 daughter, Laura J. (Steve) Bailey of Fruitport; 2 sisters, Shirley (Ralph) Becklin and Kathleen (Ted) Farkas both of Fruitport; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Aris and a brother, Donald. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held Monday 11 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Norman Droski presiding. INTERMENT: Fruitport Cemetery. Military Rites under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 3195 will be held at the church following the Mass. MEMORIALS: International Aid or Sacred Heart Food Pantry.
