Mr. George A. Grabinski, age 53, died Monday, February 4, 2008, at Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon. He was born on March 5, 1954 in Muskegon, the eighth of 12 children to William and Julianna Grabinski. He attended St. Michael's Grade School and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School, where he was active in band, track, and the West Shore Youth Symphony. George then earned a degree in Music from DePaul University. After living several years in St. Louis, MO, he returned to Muskegon. Being an accomplished trombonist, he played for several years in the West Shore Symphony, and also in area churches. He was employed by Mr. Scrib's Inc. George's faith was very important to him. He was a communicant of St. Michael's parish, where he served as a lector. George enjoyed the company of many friends and classmates. He loved family gatherings and celebrations - he was "Santa" every year! He was especially proud of his many nieces and nephews, and had a special affection for his godchild - niece, Kaitlyn. George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his seven brothers: Joseph (Rhonda) of Marne, William (Janet) of Dallas, TX, Albert (Christina) of Portage, Michael of Vista, CA, Raymond (Susan) of Lakeview, Paul (Lorraine) of Muskegon, Anthony (Patricia) of Plymouth, MN; four sisters: Susan (Robert) Rositch of Spring Lake, Marilyn (Thomas) Graham of St. Louis, MO, Julia (William) Steilen of Overland Park, KS, and Margaret (Tim) Bancuk of Grand Rapids; one uncle, Edmund (Mary) Grabinski of Muskegon; 30 nieces and nephews, and 11 great-nieces and nephews. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Monday at St. Michael Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Sunday with a Rosary being prayed at 5PM at: The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service at church. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
