Mr. George Leo Gimakas, age 90, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013. He was born in Bellevue, MI on July 12, 1923 to Theodore & Theano (Gianora) Gimakas and served his country in the US Air Force as a Navigator, retiring from the reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He married the former Marcia Christiansen on June 16, 1956 and had been employed as a Purchasing Manager at Neway Manufacturing for 27 years until retiring. He was a member of First Congregational Church UCC, Viking Lodge, Masonic Lodge and Elks. George was an avid golfer, bowler and line dancer who lived life always with a smile. SURVIVORS Nieces and nephews, George (Gail) Johnson of AL, Carol (John) Bird of MI, Martin Robert (Judy) Christiansen of KY, Judy (Rory) Windrim of MI, Bruce (Susan) Christiansen of WI; many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia; brother Robert and sister, Cleo. SERVICE Tuesday, August 13, 2013, 10:00 AM at First Congregational Church UCC with Rev. Timothy D. Vander Haar officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION Monday, 4-7 PM at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Linne Lodge #57 Viking Scholarship Fund.
