Mr. George E. Thompson, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon following a long illness. He was born in Ann Arbor, MI on March 31, 1940 to Wallace and Mabel (Payne) Thompson. He came to Muskegon as a young man and married the former Rosemary Ann Akins in 1967. George was formerly employed at West Michigan Steel Foundry until his retirement in 1998. He is survived by his: wife, Rosemary; 2 sons, Virgil (Wendy) Thompson of Whitehall and Brian Thompson of Muskegon Hts.; 3 daughters, Kimberly Thompson of Twin Lake, and Jennifer Thompson and Nancy Thompson, both of Muskegon Hts.; 3 brothers, Alec (Peggy) Thompson, Joseph (Karen) Thompson, and Christopher (Gail) Thompson; sister, Nancy (Jack) Bush and 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2007.
