Mr. Ronald Dean Garrett, age 76, went to be with his Lord early Sunday morning at a local hospital following a long illness. Ron was born in McLean County, IL, to Leslie and Bertha (Moyer) Garrett on July 26, 1930. He came to Muskegon in 1962 and had resided in Ravenna for the past 40 years. He married the former Mary Stauffacher on October 20, 1956 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1995. He then entered into marriage with the former Ruby D. Jackson on April 4, 1998. Mr. Garrett was an active member at Central United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Red was also a member of the Ravenna Lions Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from, Sealed Power Foundry in Ravenna. SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruby of Muskegon; 2 Sons, Edwin L. Garrett of Coopersville and Joseph L. (Martha) Garrett of up-state, New York; Daughter, Jennifer L. Gemmel-Johnson of Ravenna; Sister, Charlotte Buss of Freeport, IL; 4 grandchildren, Jamie, Mary, Chloe and Colby; 4 step-children, Stephanie Hartman, Sue McCormick, Paula Larsen and Jill Dick; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE: will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 1011 Second Street in Muskegon, Wednesday 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Randall R. Hansen, DM and Chaplain Jan Johnson presiding. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
