Frederick J. "Fred" Buthker

Mr. Frederick J. "Fred" Buthker, age 86, went to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning, August 26, 2008. Fred was born January 12, 1922 to F. William and Norma G. (Fisher) Buthker in Wapakoneta, OH and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. He owned and operated Muskegon Floral Company for many years before retiring, and was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder and deacon. He was also an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, and had been a member of the Y's Men. Fred married Evelyn Hoeksema on June 20, 1947 in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2007. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Pam Buthker, William (Jane) Buthker, both of Muskegon; 3 grandsons, Joseph, Andrew, and Alex Buthker. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Buthker, and a sister, Louise McGee. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Terrace St., with Pastor David Sieplinga officiating. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 will be from 6-8 PM Friday evening.
