ALPERS, MR. FREDERICK W., SR. Grand Haven, MI Mr. Frederick W. Alpers Sr., age 84, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Shorehaven Living Center. He was born in Traverse City, MI on June 29, 1919 to Frederick William & Hazel DeMarsAlpers & married Frances on September 4, 1950. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1992. Mr. Alpers had been employed as a millwright at Brunswick Corp. until he retired in 1984. He was a CB radio operator, enjoyed watching the planes at the Grand Haven airport, working in the yard, traveling in northern Michigan & polka music. Survivors: 3 sons, Arthur Edward Betty Alpers of Eugene, OR, Frederick Brenda Alpers, Jr. of Nunica, MI, & Gary L. Aplers & special friend, Jim Vanderkodde of Saugatuk, MI; daughter, Mary A. Hansen of Grand Haven, MI; daughter-in-law, Sue Piasecki of Grand Haven, MI; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Satter of Traverse City, MI; several nieces & nephews. Mr. Alpers was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Terry brother, Ralph; 2 sisters, Jean Warsaw & Marlene Alpers. Memorial Service: Monday, July 7, 2003, 1:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Blackmer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
