Fred Thomas

Mr. Fred Alfred Thomas, age 99, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was born in Sevierville, Tennessee on March 2, 1918 to Hubert & Pearl (Baker) Thomas and graduated from Pruden High School in Pruden, Kentucky in 1936. He served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II where he saw action in North Africa and Italy. Fred married the former Mary Alice Toren on November 2, 1945. He worked primarily as a carpenter and home builder and was a member of the Michigan Carpenter's Union. Some people may remember Fred as being a Manager in the Muskegon Pony League Baseball System during the 1960's and 1970's. SURVIVORS Sons, Hugh (Dorothea) Thomas of Grand Rapids, Doug (Sandy) Thomas of AZ; daughters-in-law, Melanie Thomas and Terri Thomas; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice in 2001; son, Craig Thomas in 2015; siblings, Edward, Laura & Mildred.. SERVICE Sunday, January 14, 2018, 2:00 pm at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. James Swieringa officiating. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION Saturday, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
