Mr. Franklin C. Cook, age 89, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 in Muskegon. Frank was born October 13, 1918 to Albert and Luvella (Siebert) Koch in Detroit, MI and had resided in the Muskegon area since 1936. Frank was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Air Force and flew 50 missions over Germany on the plane "Luck of the Irish" with "J" on its wing, as Lead Bombardier while serving with the 8th Air Force, 13th Bomb Wing. Frank was a member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason of Lovell Moore Lodge #182 F & AM. Frank had been employed by the MESC for over 17 years prior to being a Prudential Life Insurance Co. agent for over 25 years. Following his retirement, Frank assisted at the Norton Examiner, Meijer's, Airport Security at the Muskegon County Airport and as a greeter at Sam's Club. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy, and twin sons, Donald & Douglas; his first wife, Jean and by two sisters, Pat Piasecki and Bev Grelewicz. On February 10, 1968 he married the former Doris Richards and she survives him along with her 2 sons, Kurt (Sue) Richards of Norton Shores and Bryan (Mary) Richards of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Kim (Brian) Sidlauskas, Kelli Richards, Matt (Danielle) Richards, Kristy (Andy) Sasak, Jenny Richards, Tony Richards and Katie Richards; Jacey (Jeremy) Eccleston, Chris (Keri) Cooper, Afton Cooper; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Eldonna Carlson and by many loved nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 11AM Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church (1617 Palmer Blvd.) with the Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating. VISITATION with Frank's family will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 and one-hour prior to the service at the church. A MASONIC MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 7PM Tuesday, at the beginning of the evening time of visitation. MEMORIAL GIFTS to McGraft Memorial Congregational Church or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
