Frank Anthony Varona

Frank Varona aka Foster Johnson, the son of the late Antonia Reyes and Foster C. Johnson was born on September 1, 1945 in Bronx, NY. Frank accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. Frank received his formal education through Bronx parochial schools and graduated in 1962 where he excelled in his studies. After high school Frank enlisted in the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Germany and served as a cook. Upon leaving the war, Frank moved to Battle Creek, MI where he found his passion of taking care of the elderly and mentally disabled while working at the VA hospital. In the early 1970's Frank moved to Indianapolis, IN and managed a retirement facility. Frank would eventually move to Muskegon, MI and start his own adult foster care business in 1990 where he did what he did best for more than 25 yrs., taking care of those who could not take care of themselves. In 2003, Frank married his devoted wife and best friend Rochelle Varona (Carter). In his leisure, he enjoyed collecting ships, playing chess and cards with his friends and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren who loved him dearly. Frank/Foster was a truly blessed man. He was born on September 1, 1945 and departed this life on April 6, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother Antonia Reyes and his father Foster C Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Rochelle Varona and children Foster Johnson (Tonya), Mary Sims (Jimmy Jr.), Antonia Varona, Omar Varona, and Lynda Carter, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Frank had four sisters by love itself: Phyllis Hayes (Don), Barbara Stevenson, Sharon Clincy Tayor-Bey (Johnnie), Pam Clincy, and Jackie Clincy, best friends, Leonard Thomas, Larry Frazier, Randall Thompson and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. A private family memorial will be held on April 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
