Florence E. Race RACE, MRS. FLORENCE E. (Widow of Raymond) Muskegon Mrs. Florence E. Race, age 87, passed away at a local hospital January 21, 2006, following a long illness. She was born May 13, 1918 in North Muskegon to Gilbert and Klea (Sovacool) Berry and moved to Muskegon as a young girl. She married Raymond Race in Muskegon on June 26, 1937 and he preceded her in death on January 27, 1994. Mrs. Race was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church and the Northside Senior Citizens. She is survived by 3 sons, Charles R. (Arlene) Race and Paul G. (Betty) Race both of North Muskegon, and Thomas J. (Juanita) Race of Montague; 4 daughters, Judy I. Race and Phyllis E. (Frank) Booth both of North Muskegon, Janet L. Nykamp of Holland, MI, and Eleanor Norman of North Muskegon; 2 brothers, Gilbert C. (Catherine) Berry and Walter (Bernice) Berry both of North Muskegon; 1 sister, Helen Puffer of Irons, MI; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Berry; a sister, Inez Yonkers; and son-in-law, Dale Nykamp. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Thursday 11 A.M. at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd., Rev. Sherwin Brantsen presiding. VISITATION: Wednesday 4-7 P.M. at the Lee Funeral Home.
