Evelyn Marie Walton, 86, beloved wife of Don Walton of Oak Crest Manor in Spring Lake, slept away from us with Parkinson's disease on February 7, 2011. She was born near Freeport in 1924, the first child of Floyd and Mabel Thompson. She graduated from Freeport High School, married Don there in 1943 and lived there until 1965 when they moved to St. Johns. They moved to the Grand Haven Area in 1996. She graduated from the Davenport McLachlan Institute (now Davenport University) and worked as a secretary for the Freeport Creamery and later the Freeport and St. Johns Public Schools. The family especially thanks the kind, loving and attentive staff at Oak Crest Manor for their care over the past 4-1/2 years and especially the past few months. They are also most grateful for the loving care of Hospice of North Ottawa Community. "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen." - I Peter 5:10,11 SURVIVORS Evelyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don; children, JoAnne (Robert) Gulliver of SugarLand, TX, Doug (Janice) Walton of Spring Lake, Jacolyn (Brad) Dadles of Livingson, TX, Daryl (friend Diane) Walton of Williamsburg; brother, Kenneth (Charleen) Thompson of Freeport; sisters, Marge Wieland of Hastings, Carolyn (Bob) Walton of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Derek of Menlo Park, CA, Jadon (Ann) of White Lake, Hayley Marie of Williamsburg and Megan Komosinski of Nunica.
