MEYER, MRS. EVELYN Grand Haven Evelyn Gertrude Meyer, of Simarron Adult Care of Grand Haven died Tuesday, February 17, 2004. She was born June 16, 1916 in Adams Basin, New York, to Joseph and Gertrude Grosa. She married Harold O. Meyer on August 14, 1940 in Muskegon. Evelyn was an active partner in her husband's business in Muskegon, General Plumbing Supply Company for many years. She previously had taught second grade at Moon School in Muskegon after having graduated cum laude from Kalamazoo College in 1937. She was also very active in her third career, that of owning the Bil-Mar Restaurant in Grand Haven, having retired from that in 1979. She and her husband Harold had the best of both worlds; summer in Grand Haven and winter in Clearwater, Florida. They enjoyed traveling the world together and told many a tall tale of their travels. In 1995 they moved into Freedom Village Seminole Square in Seminole, Florida before moving back to Grand Haven in 1999 for health reasons. Her upbringing was greatly influenced by her pride in her parents and her love for her Church. Her father was a Baptist minister for over sixty years and spent eight years as the Pastor at First Baptist Church in Muskegon. As a preacher's kid PK she had a great joy for life. She always saw the good in people and her witty sense of humor made her liked by all. Her devotion and steadfast love to her husband, Harold, paralleled her mother's life.
