Evelyn Louise Herbert, age 78, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024. She was born in Alpena, MI on May 3, 1946 and raised by parents Rosemarie (Williamson) and Eugene Robert Wheeler. She graduated from Reeths Puffer High School in 1964. Evelyn worked various jobs through the years, She was a waitress at Innis Inn and at Black Angus. She worked as a phlebotomist at Hackley Hospital and she worked at Cruises Inc. selling ocean cruises for nearly 10 years. Evelyn married Douglas Herbert on September 22, 1978 and they spent the next 29 years together until his death in 2007. The two of them took over 30 cruises during their marriage. Evelyn was also an accomplished seamstress and often sewed clothes for her children. But she was most widely known for making hundreds of fleece blankets for all the pre-school students in the Oakridge School District and was affectionately called "the Blanket Lady". Evelyn was very active in her children's lives and enjoyed watching all of their sports activities growing up. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Son, Brian (Kim) Memberto; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Greg) Merrill, Olivia (Tycen) Kooiker, Brooke (Andrew) Paradine, Nikki Ruiz, Ryan Glover, Ryan Memberto, Rylee Memberto, Raquel Memberto, Sophie Memberto; sister, Shirley Karafa. She was preceded in death by her Husband Douglas in 2007; son, Brad Memberto in 2010, son, Robert Membert0 in 2014, sisters Jeanie & Patty Hekkema, brother Bobby Wheeler Jr, and her former husband Joseph Memberto.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Sunday, September 15, 2024, 3:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home with Pastor Carlos Ramos officiating. Interment in Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers the family asks for support of Ev's cousin and friend Wendy VanHohenstein Sullivan's grandson's recovery from a recent accident.
