ALMS, MRS. EVA M. Widow of Dr. Stanley Muskegon, MI Mrs. Eva Maud Alms, age 91, died Sunday, August 10, 2003 in Grand Haven, MI, following a short illness. She was born April 21, 1912 in Hastings, Ontario, Canada to James & Mary Metcalfe McConnell. She taught elementary school in Norwood, Ontario, then moved to Chicago where she met and married Dr. Stanley W. Alms, D.C. They moved to the Muskegon area in 1946 and Dr. Alm's Chiropractic office was in Muskegon Heights until his death June 2, 1972. Mrs. Alms worked at Hackley Public Library for 4 years & completed her B.A. in Library Science at Western Michigan University in 1972. She was a Librarian at Mona Shores High School for 12 years. In her retirement she volunteered at Hackley Hospital, Muskegon Museum of Art and the Norton Shores Public Library. She was an active member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. She loved Lake Michigan and enjoyed reading, theater & fine arts, travel and spending time with her family. SURVIVORS Son, John Stanley Alms of Grand Rapids, MI and 3 daughters; Jill Charles Misner of Grand Haven, MI, Judith Lester Hoyle of Cave Junction, OR, and Joyce Chip Ransford of Denver, CO; 2 grandchildren, David Misner of Queens, NY and Aimee Dave Wilson of Grand Haven, MI, and 1 great granddaughter, Sophia Hope Wilson. MEMORIAL SERVICE Rev. Vic Charnley will officiate at an 11 AM memorial service on Thursday, August 21st at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church where Mrs. Alms was a member of the congregation since 1958. No visitation will be held. Memorials may be made to Lake Harbor United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Clock - Muskegon
