Eugene Hastings Sheldon, age 92, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born in Muskegon, MI on June 20, 1931 to Thomas & Thelma (Hastings) Sheldon and married the former Marilyn "Mickey" Nielsen on February 10, 1954. Gene served his country in the US Army in Germany from 1953-1956. He graduated from Muskegon High School and then went of to Michigan Tech University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Sheldon had been employed as a Road Construction Engineer for Rieth Riley for over 30 years until retiring. Gene was very active in his community. He was a member of the Rotary Club and hosted multiple foreign exchange students in his home over the years. He also served as a Boy Scout leader and built many neighborhood skating rinks during the winters in Muskegon. In retirement he and his wife Mickey lived in various places such as Texas, Utah and LaPaz Mexico just to name a few before returning to Muskegon.

SURVIVORS

2 sons, Dan Sheldon of Wilton Manors, Florida, Mark Sheldon of Los Angeles, CA; sister Carr Lee March; nieces and nephews Yasemin Long, Suzan Ekmekchi, James Hopkins, Michael Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey in 2019, son Thomas in 2011.
