Eugene "Gene" Bishop

Mr. Eugene "Gene" W. Bishop, age 67, died Friday, February 12, 2010. He was born in Muskegon on January 11, 1943 to Floyd & Dorothy (Sherwood) Bishop and married the former Diane Sheesley on May 10, 1975. Mr. Bishop had served his country in the U.S. Army. He had been employed as a Molder at Century Foundry for over 30 years until retiring in 2004. SURVIVORS Wife of 34 years, Diane; sons, Brian (June) Bishop, Douglas Bishop, both of Muskegon; daughter, Kimberly Bishop of Coopersville; stepson, Tim (Carolee) Sheesley of WI; father, Floyd Bishop of Grand Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Kevin Bishop of Muskegon; sisters, Dawn (Tom) Wood, Diane (Terry) White, both of Muskegon; 2 brothers-in-law, Dan (Nancy) Sheesley of Whitehall, Jim Swiftney of Muskegon; Godson, Scott Pawlowski of Muskegon; special long time friend, Tom Langdan of Walkerville; special companion, Buster; several nieces, nephews, & cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents; sister, Sherry; stepfather, Joe Schuitema. SERVICE Tuesday, February 16, 2010, 11:00 AM at Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Don Wood officiating with military rites under the auspices of Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION Tuesday, 1 hour prior to the service at Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ. MEMORIAL: To family to defray funeral expenses.
