Barbara Kay Erwin, age 66, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006 in Muskegon. She was born November 6, 1939, to W. Lloyd and Helen Abbott (Maitland) Miner in Jackson, MI, and she married Jerry L. Erwin on June 8, 1958 in Jackson. Barbara moved to Spring Lake in 1999 after 40 years as a resident of Scottville. She was employed as a secretary for the Mason County School System, assisted with Erwin's Custom Sports for 18 years, and also ran her own antique store, "Main Corners Antique." Barbara enjoyed serving and participating in her community in various capacities. She was a former member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Ludington, and also of Scottville Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls with Eastern Star. She had also served as a member and former president of the Scottville Literary Club. She was active in school activities at Mason County Central, and she was a former member of the Scottville Chamber of Commerce. Barbara was also a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist (The Mother Church) in Boston. She enjoyed flowers, plants, boating, horseback riding, her grandchildren, and all of their activities. Barbara is survived by her husband, Jerry; 2 daughters, Gina (Kevin) Gancarz of Grand Haven and Jada (Timothy) Bench of Spring Lake; 6 grandchildren, Shawn, Brooke, and Molly Jo Gancarz and Kayla, Bronti, and Spencer Bench. She was preceded in death by her parents. The service for Barbara will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Thomas Cook officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service and following the service at the church. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery in Scottville on Friday, November 3.
