Erwin Bancroft

Erwin L. Bancroft, age 67, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. He was born August 3, 1940, to Norman and Doris (Leverton) Bancroft in Grayling, MI. Erwin married the former Barbara Fielstra on August 15, 1964 in Muskegon. Erwin had been employed for over 30 years as a math teacher at the Fruitport Middle School. Mr. Bancroft was a member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and the Grand Haven Elks # 1200 Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Barbara of 42 years; one son, David Bancroft of Spring Lake; two daughters, Nancy Anne (Kurt) Romig of Holt, MI, Laura (Brian) Molyneux of Grand Haven; six grandchildren, Noah, Isaac, Ethan Molyneux, Charles and Samuel Romig and Joel DeLass; one brother, Larry (Janet) Bancroft of Missouri; three sisters, Evelyn (Gene) Kindler, Irene (William) Gildner, Anita (Russ) Hilliker all of Grayling, MI; special friend, Ellen Anderson of Holland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Norman Bancroft. A funeral Service for Erwin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Spring Lake Presbyterian, 760 E. Savidge Street, with the Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Elks National Scholarship Fund or the Fruitport Community School Scholarship Fund.
