Erickson, Norma Leola

Mrs. Norma L. Erickson, age 87, passed away Monday, December 4, 2006, at her home. She was born May 10, 1919 in Muskegon to the late Richard and Antonette (DeMoor) Shannon. Norma worked as a Red Cross volunteer during W.W.II and was Head of Payroll at Browne-Morse Company for many years. She and her husband, Robert, were members of Unity Reformed Church for 56 years. They were also very active in Muskegon Rescue Mission and were "Grandparents" in the VISTA Program, encouraging and teaching young children to read. Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert; and her two sisters, Virginia Cooper and Frances Mouw. She is survived by her four children: Judith L. (Joel) Schuitema, Timothy S. (Darae) Erickson, Kathleen L. (Cleo) Townsend, Barbara J. (Dale) Johnson; eight grandchildren: Aaron, Derek, and Mark Schuitema, Sarah (John) Hughes, Allyson, Adam, and Ian (Amanda) Townsend, and Gregory Johnson; great grandson, Kellen Townsend; sister-in-law, Doris Geoghan; and brother-in-law, Donald Erickson. A CELEBRATION SERVICE for Norma will be Friday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Unity Reformed Church, 1521 Porter Road. VISITATION will be Thursday, December 7th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Unity Reformed Church Narthex. Memorial contributions may be directed to Muskegon Rescue Mission or to Unity Reformed Church MISSIONS.
