It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Enrique Salvidar Herrera, affectionately known as Henry, who departed this world on April 20, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on December 29, 1950 to Reyes and Aurora (Saldivar) Herrera. Henry lived a full life marked by love, dedication, and countless contributions to his community in Muskegon, Michigan.
In high school in Taft, he met the love of his life, Lydia. Lydia was 18 and Enrique 17, beginning a marriage that spanned many decades and countless memories. In 1974, they moved to Michigan to be near family, settling in the Muskegon area.
A proud working man, Henry served the City of Norton Shores as a heavy equipment mechanic-the person everyone trusted to keep things running. Known by his family as their "MacGyver," he could fix nearly anything and loved the challenge. He retired at 55 but never stopped tinkering.
As a teenager, Henry played drums in a band in Texas, and music remained a joyful thread throughout his life. He was also an avid collector and restorer of antique telephones and even maintained a working coin-operated phone at home. His prized telephone booths-a full "Superman" booth and a half-booth-delighted visitors and especially his grandchildren.
Enrique was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Lydia Herrera, on November 30, 1968, in Taft, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful family. Henry is survived by his wife, Lydia; his devoted children, Henry (Darlene) Herrera Jr., Patricia (Loeut) Chhan, Sandra (Robert) Hogan, and Juan (Marisela) Herrera Sr.; as well as his treasured grandchildren, including Alexandrea (Ian) Johnston, Rafael Herrera, Juan (Courtney) Herrera Jr., Michelle Guerrero, Kenny Chhan, Selena Herrera, Alberto Guerrero, Mercedes Herrera, Michael Guerrero, Damian Herrera, Dalton Hogan, and Greg Chhan; sister, Estella Herrera and 10 great-grandchildren.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Luis Herrera and Juana Rivera, both of whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Henry's memory on April 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM with a Time of Sharing at 5:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance of a man who touched many lives with his kindness and spirit.
Enrique "Henry" Herrera's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be missed profoundly but remembered fondly, carrying his spirit with them always.
