Elvin Lavern Singleton, a soulful spirit whose melody will forever echo in our hearts, departed from this world on August 12, 2025, at the age of 64. Born under the warm skies of Charleston, SC on February 18, 1961, he was cradled in the love of his parents, Elijah and Louise (Cochran) Singleton.

Elvin's journey led him to Muskegon, MI in the late 1980s, where he devoted 27 years as a machine operator at Shape Corporation. A guardian of craftsmanship, he poured his skills into his work while nurturing his passion for life. His porch became a haven of reflection, where he'd sit and watch the world unfold, a loving observer of quiet moments. He took pride in his car, keeping it spotless, a reflection of his attention to detail and zest for life.

Elvin had a profound love for his family, relishing every moment spent with his grandchildren, especially his dear grandson. Music resonated deeply with him; jazz, particularly the soothing sounds of Boney James, filled his days. A collector of over 2,000 CDs and a former DJ for gatherings, he understood the power of rhythm to bring people together. His culinary skills were unmatched, as he delighted family and friends with his renowned red rice and homemade macaroni and cheese.

Elvin leaves behind a loving legacy of family: his daughter Anetra Singleton; sons Elvin Speight and Cavin Jefferson, Dametria, D'Quentin, Demetrius holt and Eddie Spencer a cherished grandson Equan Wilson.Jr,Kanan granddaughters Kamarria and Za'Niyah Wilson, Kanan Holt, Elana Holt-Bailey Blessyn Day, his devoted sister Mary Singleton; and his brother Anthony "Tony" Singleton. He is also remembered by his fiancee Dana Holt, and many others whose lives he touched. Elvin was preceded in death by: his parents Elijah Singleton & Louise Singleton; siblings Glenda Maria Singleton-Simmons, Alita K. Singleton-Williams, Leo Renard Singleton, John Albert Singleton, Anthony Singleton, Mary Singleton-McNeill and a host of family in Charleston South Carolina

A funeral service will be held on August 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior. Following the service, Elvin will be lovingly cremated, his spirit set free into the universe.
