Elsie M. Block

BLOCK, MRS. ELSIE M. Muskegon, MI Mrs. Elsie M. Block, age 94, died Saturday, October 4, 2003. Elsie, a homemaker, was a lifetime resident of Muskegon. She was born to George & Petra Larson Bloomquist on August 16, 1909. She married Basil L. Block on March 3, 1934. Elsie was the oldest living member of Lakeside Baptist Church & until recently, was very active in church activities. She was a former member of the Philathea Class, the Ladies Sunday School Class. She organized & planned activities for the Church's Keenager group. Elsie enjoyed traveling, the outdoors & spending time with her children & grandchildren. SURVIVORS She is survived by a son, Thomas Esther Block of Muskegon, MI; 2 daughters, Sandra Bruce Thornberg of Muskegon, MI & Jan David Becker of Vicksburg, MI; 4 grandchildren, Bradley Block, Gayle John Decker, Kay Mark Rector & Michelle Michael Thornberg-Riolo; 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Evelyn Alstrom & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil on April 9, 1970; a grandson, David Thornberg; 2 sisters, Edith Kroeze & Ethel Peterson & by 2 brothers, Robert & George Bloomquist. SERVICE Tuesday, October 7, 2003, 11:00 AM at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
