Elmer Wood Jr.

Mr. Elmer L. Wood, Jr., age 78, passed away at his residence on April 30, 2007, following a short illness. He was born May 5, 1928 in Muskegon to Elmer and Hattie (Shelner) Wood, Sr. He married the former Lois L. Charland in Muskegon on May 28, 1948. Mr. Wood served his country in the U.S. Army and was a former member of V.F.W. Post 3195, the Muskegon Heights Eagles, and the Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Council (K8R0H). He was employed at Shaw Walker for 42 years until retiring in 1991. SURVIVORS: his wife, Lois; 2 sons, Elmer L. Wood III of Texas and Kerry A. (Karla) Wood of Muskegon; 1 daughter, Dawn D. (Chris) Ames of Cloverville; 1 sister, Beverly (Victor) Chandonnet; 7 grandchildren, Jon, Christopher, Tracey, Kevin, Eric, Michael and Bryan; and 9 great-grandchildren. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Thursday 11 A.M. at Forest Park Covenant Church, 3815 Henry St., with Rev. Russ Carlson presiding. INTERMENT: Mona View Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION: Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Lee Funeral Home.
