Murphy, Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Muskegon, Michigan Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Murphy age 96 transitioned peacefully this life on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11:25 P.M. She was born to the union of John and Mattie (Gills) Lucas, on August 28, 1924 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the second child of three children. Montgomery is where she grew up, received her education and accepted Christ at an early age. She was Baptized at the Maggie Street Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend B.D. Lambert. She married the late Aljay Bibbins, Sr. and to that union one son was born. Elizabeth came to Muskegon In 1954, met and married Bennie Morris and they adopted two of their grandchildren. Later she joined the Greater Harvest Baptist church under the leadership of the late Reverend Clayborn C. Casey and she joined Beulah under the leadership of Reverend Willie N. Paul, Jr. and served on the Mother's Board. In 1973 She met and married Henry Murphy. Elizabeth loved children, who affectionately called her "Ebbie" and she always had children around her. She was employed as a domestic housekeeper for many years. After her semi retirement she liked to go to rummage stores, yard sales and even had a few yard sales herself. (author unknown) SURVIVORS She leaves to cherish her memories 2 sons, Aljay (Albertha) Bibbins, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, Frederick Morris; 1 daughter Patrice ( Angelo) Jackson. 1 stepdaughter, Mrs. Willie Smith all of Muskegon, Michigan. 8 grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 special nieces, Chaquetta Williams and Alexandria Johnson; 2 God children, Janet Huey of Grand Rapids, MI & Michelle (shelli as Lizzie called her) Hunter-Totten of Muskegon , MI ; good friends, Mrs. Johnnie Mathews and Ms. Betty Simon both of Muskegon, MI and a host of nieces, friends and her Beulah Baptist church Family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 husbands; 1 sister, Rosalee Hunter; 2 brothers, Jack Lucas and Louis Williams, Jr. ; 3 grandchildren, Danotus Smith, Jill A. Smith and Bobby Morris. SERVICE Tuesday, June 29, 2021, 11:00 AM at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev James Williams Jr. officiating. VISITATION Monday, June 28, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
