Eliza "Jean" Falbe, age 91, of Muskegon, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at Poppen House.
Born on July 8, 1935, in Gesling, Kentucky, Jean was the youngest and last surviving of six children of Philip and Pearl (Workman) Wilburn. On July 12, 1952, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Falbe, and together they built a devoted family.
For many years, Jean was a familiar face to shoppers at Woolworth's, W. T. Grant's, Federals Department Store, and Kmart, where she worked as a clerk. Fiercely independent, she spent the last nine years at The Village at the Oaks, determined to remain in the third-floor apartment she called home. Despite facing significant health challenges throughout her life she was known for her remarkable resilience and strong will.
Jean loved travel and fun. With Lawrence, she enjoyed bus trips to places like Branson and treasured their annual flights to Las Vegas, favoring penny machines and fondly recalling the "good old days" of Vegas. In quieter moments, she enjoyed taking ceramics classes and creating heartfelt pieces.
Her later years were brightened by her dear companion and neighbor, Ron, a former accountant, whose daily care-bringing coffee and muffins, sharing meals, and looking out for her well-being-offered comfort, routine, and a cherished bond of love and friendship. His kindness helped Jean maintain her independence for many years.
She is survived by her children, Ed (Diane) Falbe, Katherine Satterfield, and Julie (Mark) Jalovec; her grandchildren Angie (Terry) Bigham, Ed "Bean" Falbe (Andrea Watson), Racheal Palmer (Chad Gundy), Jordyn (Jake) Wagenmaker, and Jacob Jalovec (Madison Armstrong); and her great-grandchildren Bryce, Payton, Lucas, Braxton, Tyla, Zoey, and Maizey; Good Friend Ron Kass. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 2009 and her siblings Curtis, Andy, Phillip, Callie, and Villena; son-in-law, Hal Satterfield.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Clock Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Ken Shady. Interment in Egelston Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbor Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Clock Funeral Home.
