Elden James "Jim" Nedeau, age 75, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Muskegon, MI on August 25, 1948 to Elden J. Nedeau and Marjorie (Barritt) Nedeau. Jim graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1966. He served 4 years in the US Navy, including aboard the USS Independence. Jim graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management. He worked in that field in a number of Western states, including several years at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, before returning to Muskegon, where he resided for the rest of his life. He married Judith Ann Palmer on November 26, 1994. They were married 29 years. In Muskegon, he worked as a real estate appraiser for 20 years in the family business, followed by 10 years as an appraiser for the County of Muskegon Equalization Dept. Jim enjoyed traveling and was always interested in American History, which led him on a number of his journeys. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golf, camping, fishing, hunting and hiking. He filled the family freezer many a year from his deer hunting. He hiked or backpacked below the Rim in the Grand Canyon over 500 miles during his years in Arizona. Jim was also very focused on Native American history and culture and he proudly served as a board member of the Economic Development Corporation of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. Jim was a wonderful father to his wife's children and grandchildren. He loved them and they loved him very much and he is terribly missed.

SURVIVORS

His wife Judith, stepchildren Angela Martin and Errol Palmer, step-grandchildren Ryan, Garrett, Shay, Kane, Angel, Aiden and Bradly Marie, siblings Steve (Bonnie) Nedeau and Rochelle Nedeau, nieces Sarah Ordish and Megan Farmer, and nephew Jordan Heffernan. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his stepdaughter Shawn Mechaney.
