Elaine Marie McNitt went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Elaine was born April 16, 1929 to Almer Burmeister and Daisy Burmeister. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1947. On October 25, 1947, she married Robert McNitt in Traverse City and they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage until his death in 1997. Elaine loved reading, crossword puzzles, baseball, softball, knitting, telling stories, she enjoyed her shoes, a good martini, and on cold wintry Saturdays she and Bob would each put a pot of soup on the stove. She was a kind, caring, loving, outgoing woman.
Survivors
Children: Susan Zwart, Mindy (Scott) Rosenberg, Gina (Jim) Tjapkes, and Megan (Marty) Hanson; grandchildren: Michael (Kay, Amy (Steve), Robert, Casey, Matthew (Meg), Andrew, Lauren (Gary), Shawn (Mariel, Paige (Levi), Katie (Randy), Kevin (Brandi), Austin (Gillian); 32 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Brothers; Ron Burmeister, Bill (Nancy) Burmeister, sister; Carol Tomaszewski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
