Egbert "Ed" Hesse, formerly of Muskegon, died at age 94 on January 12, 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. He was born June 20, 1913 in Muskegon to Edward and Nellie (Van Bergen) Hesse and attended Muskegon public schools, graduating from Muskegon High School in 1931. On May 12, 1936 he married Irene Kampanga, also of Muskegon. He was a life long member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church where he was an Elder and a Deacon and regularly attended Bible class. Prior to retirement he was employed by Etterman's Supermarket in Lakeside for 49 years as the meat department manager. Mr. Hesse is SURVIVED by his sons, Karl (Carole) Hesse of Ashland, Oregon, and Ralph (Saralee) Hesse of Springfield, Oregon; a sister, Pearl Welscott of Grand Haven, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Arlene Hesse of California; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, all of Eugene. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene in 2000 and a son, Jack in 1958, as well as by 2 brothers, Bernard and Kenneth, and 2 sisters, Geneva Brouwer and Lucille Vanderweg of Muskegon. A private memorial service was held for the family and INTERMENT will be made in Restlawn Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Bethany Christian Reformed Church.
