Edwin J. Homa

Mr. Edwin J. Homa, age 76, passed away Monday afternoon following a long illness. Ed was born in Muskegon on January 7, 1932 to John and Mary (Gorzkowicz) Homa. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1950 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Returning to Muskegon, he married the former Betty M. Hopka on June 13, 1959. Ed was a maintenance-electrician at Lift Tech for 40 years retiring in 1990. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Edwin was currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, the Catholic War Vets, the Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Club, life member of the Polish Union and was an avid Muskegon Catholic Central Football fan. He is survived by: wife, Betty; son, Thomas (Karen) Homa of Muskegon; daughter, Mar y (Alan) Anderson of Muskegon; Brother A. Edward Homa of CA; five grandchildren, Holly & Autumn Homa and Sarah, Michael & Elizabeth Anderson. He is also survived by his life long friend, Werner "Red" Meister. He was preceded in death by: son, Michael in 1980 and sister, Amelia LeRoux in 2003. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at, St. Michael the Archangel Church, Friday, 2:00 P.M., Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Visitation: Thursday, 3-5 P.M. at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial: St. Michael's Church.
