Edward Eugene Whalen, age 89, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. He was born in Muskegon, MI on January 2, 1934 to Joseph & Helen (Benedict) Whalen and served his country in the US Air Force during the Berlin Blockade. He married the former Alma Smith on April 18, 1959. Ed was a fireman for Muskegon Township Fire department and then later became a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of Norton Shores Public Works, retiring after 22 years. He enjoyed remote control model airplanes and keeping his yard up on his John Deere tractor. Ed was also quite a musician playing the guitar, banjo, accordion and organ all by ear.

Wife, Alma; 3 sons, Roger (Amy) Whalen, Dan (Michelle) Whalen, Edward (Amy) Whalen Jr.; grandchildren David Whalen, Allyson (Carson) Noordyke, Geddy Whalen, Taylor Whalen, Brady Whalen, Delaney Whalen; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Emersyn, Bella, Declan; sister, Julie (Jerry) Shepherd; Brother, Robert (Kathy) Whalen. Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Richard.

SERVICE

Thursday, November 9, 2023, 1:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Shady officiating. Interment in Norton Cemetery.
