Mr. Edward Walter Sohasky, age 82, went to be with his Lord on April 5, 2008 at the Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born on July 13, 1925 to Walter and Mary (Kukulka) Sohasky who preceded him in death. He attended St. Michael's Grade School and Muskegon High School graduating in 1943. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 16th Armored Division and was a tank driver. He retired from Consumers Energy in 1989. He also worked as a meat cutter for Hasper Markets and Govs Markets, and the Marathon Oil Co. He was a member of Polish Union Lodge Nest #78, Polish Falcons Nest #276, Catholic War Vets Post #843 and Consumers Power Forerunners Club. His hobbies were playing golf, walking, traveling, and visiting casinos. Ed leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia (Wingate); 6 daughters, Catherine (John) Vanderlaan of Traverse City, Christine (Johnny) Johnson of Manistee, Constance Sohasky of Grand Rapids, Cynthia (Bill Wilhelm) Aycock of Lansing, Carolyn (Stephen) Kutches and Colleen (Shawn) Butler of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Lacey Aycock of Wilmington, NC, Christopher Johnson of Grand Rapids, Matthew Kutches of Minneapolis, MN, James and Peter Kutches of Muskegon and Tristan Butler of Muskegon; his brother, Thaddeus (Marie) Sohasky of Twin Lake and Apache Junction, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a life member of St. Michaels and Archangel Catholic Church where the Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11am Thursday followed by full Military Rites under the auspices of the Muskegon Veterans County Council. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Pachesny-Jend Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial Contributions to Harbor Hospice or Muskegon Catholic Central High School Football Program.
