Mr. Edward J. "Ed" Panyrek, age 92, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 4, 1924 to Louis & Mary (Kuchtic) Panyrek and married the former Joan Gortat on November 21, 1964. Mr. Panyrek had been an entrepreneur for several businesses, including former owner of Dimension Plastics in Grand Rapids, WQWQ Radio and Bent Pine Golf Course. He started the Polka Radio Show in Muskegon over 50 years ago, and also initiated the Seaway Polka Fest. Edward was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he started the food bank and was a long time president of the Finance Council. He was also an active member of the Polish Falcons where he received the Gold Legion of Honor Award. Ed was a devoted family man and friend and enjoyed playing cards. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the fantastic staff of Sanctuary at the Park for their loving care. SURVIVORS Wife of 51 years, Joan; daughter, Patricia (William) Spann; stepchildren, Thomas Cwynar, Patricia Fowler; grandchildren, Dale, Lori, Jay, Kevin (Jill), Billy (Jenny); great grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Kaesen, Samantha & Samuel. He was preceded in death by his parents & sister, Violet Cosgrove. MEMORIAL MASS Thursday, July 14, 2016, 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Phil Sliwinski officiating. VISITATION Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 6:30 pm at Clock Funeral Home-Muskegon and Thursday, one hour prior to the service at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
