Mr. Edward R. Lynch, age 76, passed away, Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Poppen House. He was born February 27, 1931 in Royal Oak, MI to Edward and Elizabeth (Hartwig) Lynch and has lived in the Muskegon area for most of his life. Mr. Lynch was an investigator for the Department of Civil Rights for 27 years and retired in 1994. Mr. Lynch was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1959, was Associate Pastor at St. Mary's and taught at Muskegon Catholic Schools. He volunteered as a docent at the Muskegon Art Museum for 8 years, he was a Co-Founder of the Mona Shores Soccer Booster Club, and was a member of the Christian Community Center. He enjoyed photography and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed and loved his grandchildren. On October 18, 1968 he married Lois M. Langlois and she survives him along with 1 son, Dennis (Lisa) Lynch and 3 grandchildren, Conner, Sophia and Lola Lynch of Lanesville, Indiana and his nephew Bernard Yenelouis and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived 7 brothers and sisters-in-law; Dorothy Moran, Louis (Phyllis) Langlois, Gwen Langlois, Ray (Sandy) Langlois, Helen (Monte) Tietsort, Kathy Langlois and Jinny Langlois. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Marie Robidoux, Lucille Robidoux and Barbara Yenelouis and 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, William Langlois, Leo Langlois, Marcella Wilbalda, Jerry Langlois and Bob Langlois. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand Haven, with Rev. Fr. William Langlois and Rev. Fr. Jack LaGoe officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 There will be a time of sharing at the funeral home 7:00PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider, The Muskegon Art Museum, Loaves and Fishes or The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence.
