Edward Virgil Brandel, born in San Francisco, CA on June 20, 1955 passed away at the age of 65 on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Edward is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Brandel Sr., Arlene Cecil, his step father Don Cecil, and his sister, LynnCarol Brandel. He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend Lisa Brandel, his children Justin (Kara) Brandel, Paden (Adriana) Brandel, Elisa (Alex) Chamberlain, and Elaina (Britney) Brandel, and his grandchildren Eligh, Charlotte, Violet, Theodore, LunaRae, and Jaxon, as well as his siblings Rocky (Juliet) Brandel, Joe (Brenda) Brandel, Tony Brandel, and Victoria (Andrew) Pastars, step brothers Don (Sharon) Cecil, and David (Kelly) Cecil, his step mother Char Brandel, as well as several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Edward was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force from 1973-1979. In November, 1983, he married Lisa (Moore) Brandel, and together they raised their four children in Lubbock, Texas until the family moved to Muskegon, Michigan in 1996. He was a lifelong learner who earned two bachelor's degrees: a Bachelor of Science from Wayland Baptist University and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University. He worked as an engineer for Texas Instruments, Solar24, and most recently Smart Vision Lights in Muskegon, MI. Ed was a family man who cherished countless family gatherings, immediate and extended. He took joy in staying physically and mentally active and being social in his community; he especially enjoyed: any kind of fellowship, bowling, hunting, reading, cards, outdoor activities, basketball, electronics, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Ed was an angel of God who utilized his temple to spread His word, and who could be found in attendance on Sundays at Calvary Baptist Church of Muskegon. He was an intelligent, inspiring and compassionate leader who modeled discipline, generosity, and the highest of integrity. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Phoenix Crematory, Muskegon, Michigan. Edward will be honored with a private military burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. A service and celebration of life will be held with family and friends at a later determined date, when it is safe to socially gather.
