BARNES, MR. DURWOOD R. Spring Lake, MI Mr. Durwood ''Barney'' R. Barnes, age 86, died Sunday, March 16, 2003. He was born in Helena, MT on January 10, 1917 to Clarence & Louise Mandler Barnes & married the former Rita Schindler on November 12, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Barnes had been employed as an Engineer at Grabman & Sons Sheet Metal & was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Spring Lake, MI. He was also a member, former club manager & Past Exaulted Ruler of the Grand Haven Elk's Lodge #1200. In addition, he was also an avid deer hunter & card player. Survivors: 1 son, Ronald D. Mary Anne Barnes of Spring Lake, MI; 3 daughters, Judith A. Robert Goding of Holland, MI, Linda M. Jack DeCamp of Fruitport, MI & Carole L. James Klouw of Grand Haven, MI; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Lois Jack Wing of Grandville, MI; 1 sister-in-law, Madelyn Klenk of Comstock Park, MI; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita on May 23, 1999 & by a sister, Dorothy DeRidder. Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, March 19, 2003, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Vainavicz presiding. Interment in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial: Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Charity of Choice. Clock-Grand Haven
