Dr. James S. Bonner died Monday, February 4, 2008 at age 75. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 3, 1932, to Donald and Helen Bonner. He married Charlotte Bonner on November 4, 1976. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle manner, his love of family and art and his long career in education. Jim graduated from Michigan State University and received his Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He began his career by teaching art in the Lansing Public Schools and also devoted many years to the Muskegon Intermediate School system as the Superintendent of Special Education. He worked with the Muskegon Dispute Resolution Center and was a well-known local artist. Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church and the MEA. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Charlotte and his brother John. SURVIVORS Children, Christie (Steve) Kramer, James Jr. (Diane) Bonner, Chuck (Deb) Bonner, Jeffrey (Laura) Bonner and Jeff Gudelsky; his brother Richard (Rieta) Bonner; father and mother-in-law Al and Doris Johnson and many loving grandchildren, blended family members and friends. SERVICE Monday, February 11, 2008, 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church with Rev. Vincent Lavieri officiating. VISITATION One hour prior to the service at the church.
