Dorothy M. Stefanich

Mrs. Dorothy M. Stefanich, age 85, passed away Thursday morning at the McAuley Place following a long illness. Dorothy was born at home near Fremont on April 25, 1923, the youngest of seven children to Hartman and Norah (Haley) Lewis. She came to Muskegon as a young woman and married Mr. Frank Stefanich on July 29, 1944. Mr. Stefanich preceded her in death on June 19, 1978. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar Society. Dorothy enjoyed cross stitching, word puzzles, and baking for her family. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Craig of Hemit, CA and Linda (Rod) Luce of Cadillac, MI; four sons, Raymond "Bud" (Barbara) Stefanich of Muskegon, John (Carol Jean) Stefanich of Selby, SD, Robert (Marian) Stefanich of Fruitport, and LeRoy (Jane) Stefanich of Gould City, MI. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Roberta Lewis of Spring Lake, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Leahmon Lewis in 1981. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1:30 P.M., Monday, August 25, 2008, with Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Visitation will be held at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Sunday, 6-9 P.M. She will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
