Dorothy Jane McNeice, age 98, was welcomed into the joy of her Lord on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Born on November 11, 1927, in Highland Park, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of Harold Glen and Ellene (Hinman) Mann. She was raised in Port Huron, where she graduated from high school and attended Port Huron Junior College.

On September 16, 1950, Dorothy married her love, James Mark McNeice, in Port Huron. Together, they built their life in Norton Shores, rooted in love, faith, and family. Dorothy dedicated 15 years of service as a clerk for the City of Norton Shores before retiring in 1984.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorothy's life was centered on the people she loved most. She was the heart of her family - the one who brought everyone together and made each person feel valued and deeply loved. Her warmth and kindness were evident in every handwritten note, encouraging word, and thoughtful gesture.

Dorothy had a joyful spirit and loved life's simple pleasures. She adored the color pink, a perfect reflection of her cheery warmth and gentle nature. She enjoyed potlucks, savored desserts, and delighted in sharing meals with family and friends. Summers spent in Traverse City on Lake Leelanau and winters in Briny Breezes, Florida, hold precious memories and became treasured chapters of her life story.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and her faith was the cornerstone of who she was. Dorothy was a devoted prayer warrior, faithfully lifting her family and others in prayer each day. She lovingly sent Our Daily Bread devotionals along with handwritten notes encouraging her family to stay rooted in God's Word and to walk in faith.

Family meant everything to Dorothy. She found great joy organizing summer gatherings at Elk's Park - traditions that strengthened the family bond and reflected Dorothy's role as the glue that held them all together. She also delighted in celebrating life's milestones, especially her 98th birthday - a joyful party reflecting the love she nurtured throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim", in 1997, celebrating 47 years of marriage; her father, Glen; her mother, Ellene; and her lovely sister, Helen.

Dorothy leaves behind three cherished sons, James II (Cindy), Gregory (Vicky), and Michael (Valerie); her treasured grandchildren, Mark (Jenny) McNeice, Amber (Rich) Balogh, Heather (Robert) Gooding, Brandon (Jen) McNeice, Niki (Kevin) Allie, JD (Julie) McNeice, Tiffany (Kolton) Brusveen, Ashton (Brandy) McNeice, and Alexa (Nick) Osborn; and 21 adored great-grandchildren - David, Tyler, Adelina, Arianna, Kacena, Jordan, Taylor, Sebastian, Lillianna, Brecklyn, Jaelyn, Leighton, Landon, Asher, Harper, Hudson, Harrison, Cassidy, Grayson, Reese and Summer - along with extended family and dear friends who were blessed by her life.

Dorothy's life was a beautiful reflection of faith, joy, and steadfast love. The traditions she created, the prayers she faithfully lifted, and the love she generously gave will continue to shape her family for generations. She will be remembered with joy, with gratitude, and always - with a smile and a touch of pink!

"Well done, good and faithful servant...Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23

Honoring Dorothy's wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at Norton Cemetery, allowing her loved ones a moment to reflect on the beautiful life she lived, the lessons she imparted, and the love she shared. Details of this gathering will be shared with the family once determined.
