Mrs. Dorothy Osborn McCutcheon, age 99. passed into Eternal life, Sunday March 25, 2007 at Christian Care Nursing Home in Muskegon, MI. Dorothy was born February 2, 1908 in Chichester, NY. The only child of William and Marian (Ashley) Padley. After losing both parents by the age of six, she resided a short time with her uncle, Roy E. Ashley and his family in Muskegon. She was adopted by Foster and Minnie Pratt and went to California to live. Dorothy married Donald Fred Snyder in 1936 and together raised three children. After Mr. Snyder died she later married Clifford McCutcheon in 1974. In 1985 Dorothy moved to Muskegon to be with her daughter, Barbara Young and her family. Dorothy attended the Chouinard School of Art in California where she studied life drawings, color and design, water color painting, and interior design and decorating. Later Dorothy studied architectural drafting and design both residential and commercial buildings in her fifties, she returned to college and took refresher courses in color, design and watercolor. She also studied print-making and discovered that etching was her true medium. The Muskegon Art Museum has both an etching and a pencil drawing in their permanent collection. Her work also includes a poster in her honor of the 100th anniversary of Hackley Public Library. Dorothy was a member of West Shore Graphic Arts Society, Friends of Art and Daughters of the American Revolution. She attended St. Gregory's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Daughters of the King. Dorothy is survived by her children, Barbara (Russell) Young of Muskegon, MI., Donald Snyder of Eureba, CA, Marian (Leon) Young of Salinas, CA, Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She leaves her dear cousin Frances Andrews and many other cherished family members and friends. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday March 31, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church 1200 Seminole Road in Norton Shores, MI Fr. David Brower officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall for all who attend the service and for anyone wishing to pay there respects to her family MEMORIALS: In lieu off flowers, please consider St. Gregory's Memorial Fund or Christian Care Nursing Center (general fund). Envelopes will be available.
