Dorothy Maeuba Sr

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Sruba, age 81, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born March 25, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI to Lloyd and Rhoda (Henderson) Parrish and lived in the area most of her life. On November 15, 1947, she married Raymond A. Sruba in Grand Rapids and he survives her. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Walter Hagen Company when she was first married. She later worked 27 years as a bookkeeper for the Muskegon Country Club and 23 years for West Ottawa Golf Club. For many years, Dorothy sponsored children in less fortunate countries and considered them her "adopted children". She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Muskegon and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Grand Haven. SURVIVORS include her husband, Raymond; 7 sons, Michael (Monica) Sruba, Dennis (Mary) Sruba, Raymond (Sonya) Sruba, Jr., James Sruba, Donald "Dan" (Renate) Sruba, Thomas (Joni) Sruba, Joseph (Barb) Sruba; 15 grandchildren, Kristi, David, Joanne, Heather, Jasmine, Justice, Mariah, Samantha, Linsay, Ray, Alyssa, Casey, Brett, Taylor, Adam, and 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Howard Parrish, and 1 sister, Lillian Hermance. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, April 14, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Hack as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION with Dorothy's family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S.
