Drothea Treva Ruiter, age 102, passed away on April 26, 2020, at Christian Care Nursing Center. She was born on February 9, 1918, to Jacob (Jack) and Trena (Krozee) Brondsema in Muskegon, Michigan. She is a member of Unity Reformed Church. On December 3, 1936, she married Ysburn (Izzy) Hommes and he preceded her in death in 1993. She later married Frank Ruiter and he also preceded her in death in 2000. She enjoyed raising her family which was consisted of a daughter, Carol and a son, Jack. She loved antiques and was a proud member of Jean Baptiste Recollect, chapter 265 of Questers Club. Dorothea and Izzy belonged to the Happy Wanderers Travel Trailer Club and wintered 14 years in Florida. When she married Frank, he surprised her with a trip to the Netherlands where she visited the town where her father was born and also the church that he attended as a child. Her wish for the future, "That all my children, their children, and their children's children would love and serve the Lord so that someday, I'll meet them in Heaven." SURVIVORS Dorothea is survived by her son, Jack (Judy Erickson) of Roosevelt Park; stepchildren, Kim (Karon) Ruiter of Zeeland, Ron Ruiter; 5 grandchildren, Jim (Kory) Hommes, Steve (Chelley) Hommes, Vikki (Lars Reuter), Barbara (Mike Woudwyk), Rondi (Kyle Buris), 17 great grandchildren; 11 great, great grandchildren; sisters, Harriett Cooper of Muskegon, Pearl Redder of Spring Lake; several nieces and nephews. Those waiting to receive her in Heaven are her two husbands, Ysburn daughter, Carol; son-in-law, Ronald Bostrom; brothers-in-law, Al Cooper & Bob Redder; granddaughter, Beverly Hommes; grandson, Bill Bostrom; nephews, Kent Redder & Jim Cooper; niece, Mary Bevins. SERVICE Per Dorothea's request, there will be no visitation and a private family graveside service will be held. In Lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
