Doris Elizabeth Smith

Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Smith, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on August 8, 1925 to Peter and Elizabeth (Schuitema) Doctor and was a life resident. Mrs. Smith had been a long-time member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Women's Guild and the Dorcus Society. After East Muskegon CRC disbanded, she became a member of Hope Reformed Church where she was involved in the Women's Bible Study. On October 11, 1958, Doris married Irving W. "Smitty" Smith and he survives her along with 2 children, Lori (William) Bailey and David (Julie) Smith; 5 grandchildren, Staci, Billy, Gillian, Ashleigh, Olivia; 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Doctor and Virginia Smith and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers and sisters. SERVICES will be held at 11AM Friday at Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Hyma officiating. VISITATION will be from 7-9PM this evening, Thursday, at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 INTERMENT will be in Laketon Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mrs. Smith's name may be made to the Friendship Ministry at Hope Reformed Church.
