Doris M. Deboer

Doris M. DeBoer, age 94, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 in Muskegon. She was born November 13, 1914, in Ferrysburg to Dick and Mary (VanderKolk) Cook and married George VanDoorn who preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Lou DeBoer who preceded her in death in 1994. Doris was a member of Christ Community Church, the quilters group, and a former church organist. She was formerly employed at Braaks Bakery. She enjoyed crafts, reading, crossword puzzles, knitting and was an excellent seamstress. Survivors include two sons: Richard VanDoorn of Ravenna and Donald (Alice) VanDoorn of Traverse City; 5 grandchildren: Amy Grunow, Ann Underwood, Sara Schulte, Scott VanDoorn, Ted Huisman; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and good friends Blanche and Roger. Doris was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. The service for Doris will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Christ Community Church with Rev. Robert Kleinheksel officiating. Friends may meet the family following the service at church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peoples Center, Love INC or the Salvation Army.
