Dorathy Mae Ortquist

Ortquist, Mrs. Dorathy Mae Muskegon, Michigan Dorathy "Dot" Ortquist, age 87, passed away in Hospice care on Sunday, December 6. She was born on May 22, 1933 to the late Orpha and Harold Zimmerman in Muskegon, MI. Dorathy was a proud Muskegon High grad (Class of 51), and married the love of her life Alan Ortquist on June 5, 1953. She soon graduated from the Hackley School of X-Ray program, and was licensed by the State the same year she was married. Later in life she worked part time for Hile Elementary School, performing both recess and lunchroom duties. Dorathy loved being social and was an active member of Samuel Lutheran Church, now Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church. She participated in Alter Guild and Choir; also chairing the Memorial Committee, Elizabeth Circle, and Church Council. She was also a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Chapter#88), and a proud Red Hat Society Member (Scarlet O. Hatters Chapter), along with her County Extension Group. SURVIVORS Dorathy is survived by her loving husband Alan, along with her daughter Jill Ortquist, sons John and Joe Ortquist; Daughter-in-law Kelly Ortquist; beloved grandchildren Sarah, Tyler, Gwen, and Tess; great grandchild Harper; brothers-in-law, Gerret Veldman and Gary Street; sister-in-law, Mary Street, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters Charlotte Schoonbeck and Grace Veldman, step-brother Harold Zimmerman, and brother-in-law William Schoonbeck.
