Donna Louise Jelier

Jelier, Donna Godfrey Muskegon Donna Louise Jelier, age 90, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022. Donna was born in Muskegon on July 30, 1932 the only child of Blanche and Wilbur Godfrey. She loved her many friends and relatives, all of whom saw her as one of the sweetest, kindest and caring persons they have ever known. Donna's life was grounded by her Christian faith and her love of the Lord. Donna's father died when she was young and she was raised by her mother. Her husband's family became very special to both Donna and her mother and she maintained a great relationship with her Jelier family throughout her life. Her Muskegon High School graduating class of 1950, recognizing her great personality, beauty and academic success, voted her "Most Likely to Succeed." On September 4, 1954, Donna married her classmate Richard Jelier and they spent 68 wonderful years together. They vacationed in all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. With great life-long friends, they visited 16 countries in Europe and spent 30 winters in Florida. Donna was a stay-at-home mother, being there daily for her children Linda, Karen and Richard. After her children were grown, she served 10 years as the senior citizen coordinator for the Mona Shores school district. She also served as a volunteer captain for the Cancer Society for several years. Although her talents were in drama and music, she took up golf late in life. Two Aces and shooting under 100 for 18 holes in a 3- club tournament were among her many golf accomplishments. She greatly enjoyed musical plays, concerts, cruises, conventions and many sporting events. Many summers at the family cottage on West Lake meant a great deal to Donna. She had a great love for her 7 wonderful grandchildren and was usually present at their performances and sporting events. She saw 4 great grandchildren as a true blessing. She was very appreciative of son-in-law John Peters and daughter-in-law Jaye Jelier. SURVIVORS She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Jelier, and children Linda Corp, Karen (John) Peters and Richard (Jaye) Jelier. SERVICE Friday, September 9, 2022, 4:00 PM at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Mr. Jim Tanis officiating. Interment in Oakhurst Cemetery.
