Donna Mae Coon

Donna Mae Coon, 91, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Muskegon, Michigan. Born on May 23, 1935, Donna grew up in the Detroit area and later made her home in Kewadin, near Elk Rapids, where she and her husband, Merle, built a life together.

Before marrying, Donna worked as a cashier at Kresge's and then devoted herself to caring for her family and home. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and hospitality-always ready with a meal and a smile for anyone who stopped by. Donna loved gardening, especially her flowers, and found joy in tending the beds around her home.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Merle A. Coon, and by her brother, Paul. Donna is survived by her children, Patricia (Michael) VanderStelt and Dave (Nancy) Coon. Grandchildren, Timothy (Shannon) Sutter, Michael (Kirsten Shank) Sutter, April (Doug) Lee, Jeffery VanderStelt, Sheri (Randy) Gilbert, Brent Coon, Terry Coon Jr., Bryan (Shannon) Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Blake, Clara, Whitney, Lilly, Jordan, Cole, Charlie, Jeffy, Lucas, Madeline, Jacob, Austin, Braden, Caitlyn. She cherished her many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, embracing those gained through marriage with equal love.

Family memories include evenings together in the garage, sharing stories and the simple rituals that made life special-"five o'clock" drinks that carried on in honor of Merle (rum and coke for Merle, beer for Dave, and gin with Squirt then Pepsi for Donna).

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the hospice team for their kindness and support. Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice organization of choice or to a charity meaningful to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Clock Funeral Home.
