Mr. Donald "Don" W. Siegel, age 83, passed away Tuesday morning, October 9, 2007 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on July 7, 1924 to Leo and Jennie (Telleson) Siegel and was a life resident of the area. Don graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1942. After his graduation, he joined the United States Army. He was a Veteran of W.W.II having served in the Pacific Theatre in 1943 and the Philippine Liberation. During his service, he earned 3 Bronze stars and the Purple Heart Medal. After his service to his country, Don worked at The Norge and Norton Lumber before retiring from Siegel Construction in 1998. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and VFW Post #3734. On May 4, 1946, he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Galoit and together they shared over 61 years of marriage. Don is survived by his wife, Betty; 4 children, Rod (Jeanne) Siegel of Muskegon, Roxie (Ray) Jenkins of San Diego, CA, Cheryl (Steve) Veltman of Muskegon, Don (Lena) Siegel of Frisco, TX; 2 grandchildren, Jodi (Duane) Witham, Alec Brandon Siegel; 6 step grandchildren, Kim (John) Sawyer, John (Peggy) Jenkins, Jim (Amy) Weatherbee, Jason (Carmen) Weatherbee, Janell (Chris) Carr, Jeremy Weatherbee; 1 great-granddaughter, Ashley Witham; 7 step great-grandchildren, Linzie, Joe, Livvie, Lainey, Lars, Steven, Jacob; 1 brother, Leo "Bob" Siegel; 1 sister, Delores Lemke and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 granddaughter, Julie Potts; and 4 brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, Jerry and LaVerne Siegel. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 10AM Thursday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church - Marian Chapel with Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato presiding. VISITATION will be held from 2-4PM & 6-8PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with a scripture service at 7PM. ENTOMBMENT will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum with full military honors performed under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council. MEMORIALS in Don's name may be made to Hackley VNS Hospice or St. Francis Building Fund.
