Donald L. Gale

Donald L. Gale, age 69, died Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2008 in Muskegon from injuries sustained in a fall. Donald was born August 22, 1938 to O.R. and Mae Vera Grace (Johnson) Gale in Shelby. He graduated from Shelby High School and attended Freed Hardeman College in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until honorably discharged in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Vicki (Christian Dunn) Gale and six children, Donna (Daniel) Russell of Hart, Tricia (Melvin Alexander) Gale of Grand Rapids, Keith (Arlene Torres) Dunn of Jacksonville, FL, Timothy Dunn of Muskegon, Wendy (Timur) Cerkez of Broomfield, CO, Brian Gale, USN, stationed in Norfolk, VA; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Larry, Ethan, April, Nolan, June, Mason siblings, Harry (Marilyn) Carpenter of Shelby, Marjorie Carpenter Rial of Shelby, Alice (Robert) Forbear of Livonia, Anna (Mike) Eilers of New Era and twin brother, Ronald (Genevieve) Gale of Oro Valley, AZ. Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Gale and 5 half-brothers. Donald was a gentle man who loved his family above all else. In an attempt to see that others could have a family to love and of which to be a part, he and his wife have fostered many children over the years. The most recent to be brought into this circle of love is Justin. According to his wishes, cremation will take place and a MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Central United Methodist Church, 1011 Second St., with Rev. Randy Hansen and Chaplain Jan Johnson officiating.
